Ponderosa

by Carl Mayfield

Bark is the only
bite offered.
The pine sucks
the earth
into its trunk,
rising
moment by moment
into the sky
where the
three needle
clusters
meet the wind.

Carl, I loved the spare and linear lines in this poem. They are lifting my thought upwards toward those three-needle clusters and into the open sky.
What a lovely mimage.
